I will never forget the blizzard of '78. I was seven years old and the amount of snow that surrounded my house was something I will never forget.
One very vivid picture I have is my front yard and the snow mound that covered it. My sister and I had so much fun going out with our snow shovels and digging deep tunnels. They seemed to go on forever and when one collapsed...well...that was bad news. We would spend hours out there before having Mom call us back inside.
That blizzard left a small town paralyzed. You could not go onto the road without being stopped by the police and if I remember right there was a curfew too. In order to get groceries my dad had to take our blue toboggan across town to the local grocery store. That was a big deal when he came home with the necessities.
School was cancelled for what seemed like forever. I remember watching Captain Kangaroo in the mornings with my sister.
Oh, the memories of times gone by...
